what makes life interesting

Econs test is done. One down even though the outlook seems bleak. After Comm meeting, went home to prepare for today's BIG DAY. haha..actually it's big to me only cos I seldom get to do this,hmm...wait.I think I didn't experience this before: getting lost in an unknown place intentionally.

Destination to get lost at: Kampong Glam (which includes Arab Street,Bussorah Street,Ophir Street,Baghdad Street...you get the picture...)

Wandering partner:Jillian

After alighting at Bugis, took a short stroll to Ground Zero. It was really interesting. Many textile shops as well as handicraft and acessories shops. There were also one or two shops which specialise in costumes and props (really cool!)

Souvenir no.1: Stickers! (can you believe it...of all things...)

Took many photos along the way of remote alleys, dilapidated houses, speaking of which, some of these houses had an eerie feel to them as the silence is too overwhelming:deafening silence. (you'll know why after you see the photos...)
One of the highlights of our vegabond-like journey would be at the tourist district. We chanced upon the shop "Grandfather's Collections!"

early days of rock n roll

old soda bottles (complete with coffeeshop sign)

antique clocks on our way up to the 2nd floor

antique lamps!

how things looked in the past...

movie screenings in the past

more bottles of fizz

a barber setting from the good ol' days

just look at the telephones!

novelty items you can't find now

more antique gadgets

To those unaware of this fortunate find, this shop was featured in the recent Sunday Times lifestyle pages as one of the places you can go to to reminisce the good ol' days..really cool! pictures below!

Souvenir no.2: clutch bags!

Bought it at the shop beside the one mentioned. One-of-a-kind man...

Kampong Glam tourist district

After all the aimless wondering,it's time for the weary nomads to grab a bite and the nearby food paradise would be ZAM ZAM! yay!

This 100-year-old establishment situated at North Bridge Road is renowned for their murtabak. Featured in the papers many times..how can we simply bypass it? :P

I ordered Beef Murtabak and Teh Tarik whilst Jillian had Nasi Briyani and Teh Peng. Now,doesn't the thought of such good food make you salivate? muahahaha!

Now sedated with a slice of heaven, the wanderers trudged wearily towards civilisation (the nearby Golden Landmark Hotel) where they tried to window shop but to no avail as the shops there were really boring so,it's off to Bugis Junction. Bought a few things here and there before heading for home whilst Jill went to her friend's place.

Such a fruitful day today.I don't think I need to go for Learning Journey already! hahaha! Took 5 hours altogether..and now, for the photos before I don't have the energy to upload them anymore...

the aftermath...

In the papers today, a VJC Girl passed away when she was running on the school track. Not very sure about what caused it but the incident is made more real to me after knowing that she (Rui Hua) is Marie-Anne's friend's church friend's friend (or something like that), Rhyss' sister's schoolmate and Sherman's best friend. According to him, it was due to a viral attack and that she refused to stop running even after her mum told her not to. Sigh...'goes to show how fragile life is...

After tomorrow and the day after next, I will be a relatively happy person. No more econs faculty test, lit quotes test and GP essay test. Speaking of GP, don't even get me started on the GP Compre test today....

A Level Chinese Results tomorrow. "Best Friend" told me that he'll update me about his results. Hope that he gets the grade he's aiming for...

Dear God,sustain me through this period even though I may hold many doubts that cannot be addressed until the day I meet you.Until then, please let me continue to live life in faith that no matter what others say,no matter how deceptive their arguements may be,I would not bother as the seed you have sown has already taken root in my soul...the feeling of drifting is certainly a scary one...

too much to be said...

OK...I better make this quick.Time seems to be passing like nobody's business...

Post-Choir Dinner date!

Shuyun and Violet are really funny man! hahaha...our new "la pi xiao xin" imitator!

Junwei's gig
In the end, it was only Charlene,Justin and me who could go. Wanted to mug with Charlene after the gig but forfeited the idea in the end. Met Tiffany, Charlene's best friend before heading to ITE Dover West which is on the other side of the world...imagine,20 stops of the Green Line (MRT).

Anyway, reached there in time. Junwei's band was the opening band and I have to say he's good.hahaha! But there were other good acts as well. (Aerohead and Anna judge April) The female vocalist for the latter band was real good man....I got goosebumps.
Justin brought his friend and Cheryl (Junwei's OGM) and her classmates came too.

After that, dinner at NewYorkNewYork with Junwei,Charlene,Justin and Cheryl. Super full but it was nice especially the orange candy floss...

we took loads of that!

By the time I reached home, it was 11 plus...knocked out after that...

Chinese New Year at Wei Lin's House

Headed straight there after church...ended up waiting ages for Aunty Zhiyi...Weilin's lift is one of a kind. They have a big, flat screen monitor at the lift lobby which will show you what is happening in the lift so,no hanky panky!

Actually, we wanted to watch a movie and play board games but we ended up playing Scrabble and chatting until 7 plus! It was good..in fact, better than expected cos everyone was just having a good time, getting to know each other better...although it would be nice if all the altos showed up but it was good.
