Hahaha....sometimes I wish I could have the skill of writing good poetry and not wait for inspiration to hit before coming up with a good piece. For Mimi and Shannon, I guess the task of writing good poetry comes easy for them as they have been honing their skills for years and they're good at their trade.

I guess I understand how Mimi feels when she blogs about being anti-social and stuff. It's like it takes extra effort for introverts like me to open up to people easily and like what Mimi says, everytime you talk to someone, you're revealing bits of yourself. And if you say something unintended accidentally, people will characterise you according to what you've said and sometimes what you've said doesn't reflect your true self. Well, sounds complicated eh? So, the best thing to do is to keep your mouth shut. This is only a temporary measure as you'll not risk saying something odd but if this happens permanently, people might take the silence as being cold,aloof or even as a sign of pride or anti-social behaviour. Therefore, Singapore has been emphasising public speaking amongst youths by allowing active learning in classrooms through discussions and presentations, which I dread the most. However, I must say that all these platforms have helped but only to a minimal extent. It still doesn't change my introverted personality and the fact that I prefer to listen rather than speak.

Well, just a thought for the day!

Er Yi's birthday and teacher comparisons (ooOooOOooOO!!)

Today I learnt something new: I realise how commanding Lorraine Lee can be. Despite having lost her voice, she can still silence the whole lecture theatre with one glare of her doe-like eyes! Hahahaha..but she's good in what she does and thus she deserves such respect.

Moving on, our first Human Geog lesson was not bad either. I think I'll love Human Geog even more because of Mr Sahlan! when we first step into the classroom for his lesson, a powerpoint slideshow with the title "WELCOME TO GEOGRAPHY COURSE" was emblazoned in bold,blue letters across the top and a picture of his face with his name adorned the bottom..HAHAHAHAHA!! Apparently, we learnt after that that the powerpoint presentation was about him with the next slide talking about himself. (This time, the headlines were "Geography Tutor" and "My Greatest Pride and Achievements" in the following slides!)

For GP, as we were in the Arts & Culture Elective programme, we were made to conduct a very interesting experiment of creating a sub-culture in TPJC. Rachel, Rhyss and I were thinking about tying our hair in 2 ponytails besides the one that Mrs Chew suggested: using Ziploc as your pencil case. We had to remain in our sub-cultured way until the end of this week, observe the reactions that people gave (be it positive or negative, although I'm quite sure that they'll be mostly the latter response!) and give an account of the whole experience. Interesting eh?

Anyways, Charlene is the new gospel singer of 06A03. She brought her GMSS Songbook and belted out hymns during Break. Her singing was so infectious/contagious that it prompted potential gospel singers Lizard, Geraldine and Rhyss to croon along with her.MUAHAHAHA!! But it certainly brought back fond memories... "His love is warmer than the warmest sunshine, softer than a sigh..."

GP test today saw many climaxes and anti-climaxes due to the constant blackouts in LT1, 6 times in total to be precise. Charlie Brown was taking the opportunity to perfect his animal shadow techniques with his flashlight of a handphone and Ai Ping gave an impromptu performance of "Singing in the Rain" with her sudden burst of her HUGE umbrella opening...

Dhab called from Australia!!!
It was totally unexpected..I was getting ready to bathe actually when she called and she didn't even say Hello when I first answered the call. She was like "I love you guys" or something like that and I couldn't even recognise who it was initially...hahahaha....Dhabitah!!!! COME BACK EARLIER LA!! YOUR "SOON" IS LIKE 2-3 YEARS' TIME!?!?


An overwhelming number of people turned up for yesterday's auditions,around 50 plus and it was so encouraging! Even though we,or rather AI PING, cheated a bit (she told some of them that the second round of auditions were compulsory!), it was still a good amount of people. According to Mr Adrian Tan, it was so successful that other performing arts groups were considering to have compulsory auditions for their CCA too! hahahaha!! We had sectionals while Nelson conducted the auditions and he took so long that we had sectionals for almost 2 hours if I'm not wrong! Anyways, heard from some of the music comm some of the funny incidents that happened...(as if the "1,2,3" incident wasn't bad enough!)

One of the girls was told to sing some notes which were around the range of the Sopranos'. She went one octave lower!! Our new female Bass! And there's another one who did not sing the required tune and ended up singing something funny, which I can't demonstrate now cos if I do,all you will be reading would be "la la las!"

Altogether, Nelson passed 12 Sopranos, 10 Altos,7 Tenors and around 12 Basses I think...WOO~

By the way, on one of the stormy nights when it was raining very heavily, an enormous tree was uprooted, causing a huge jam at the T-junction near my house and because of that, 6-7 SBS Buses had to detour back to the interchange! You should have seen the jam! My family and I had a bird's eye view from our balcony man! After that, my brother and I ran down to kaypo a bit. There were many onlookers, most of them were like us kaypo-ing around...there was quite a commotion and the police and,I think,some personnel from the fire station were deployed to clear the debris...take a look at these:

Anyways, I don't know why but I slept at a super early time last night, 9 plus...!!! Was planning to stay at home the whole day today but went out with Ai Ping, Charlie Brown,Duc and Mimi to Vivocity to watch Deathnote 2. I have to say that they have an interesting plot even though I have not watched the first Deathnote movie. Ate at "Superdog" and realised after buying the food that it wasn't Halal (!!!) After that, Duc became famous when we went into a cell phone showroom and took a photo of Duc and saved it as the display phone's wallpaper. He became a star when we decided to Bluetooth it to the other display phones and in an effort to make sure Duc doesn't delete it, we change the phones' language to Chinese..muahahaha!!!

By the way, thanks Ai Ping for everything....you know what I mean =)

Duc's super funny man! He believed that I was the "Melissa" that Mimi and Charlie Brown told him about...and he really believed "Melissa" said he was handsome! wahahaha! More details next time!

CCA Exhibition Day

If you really love comedy and you're dying to have a good laugh, go to Youtube and type "HARD GAY" and click on videos uploaded by "BAKAFISH",hahaha! For those who are already disgusted, just to tell you that it isn't any dirty, real gay stuff. It's just this Japanese guy who goes around, decked in black shades, black leather cap, black leather vest and a black leather,micro-mini,hotpants made of black leather and doing random activities. YES, EVERYTHING ALL BLACK!! HOO!!~


CCA Exhibition Day was not bad. We had around 26 plus people who signed up at our booth (excluding the 60 plus people who made it through the compulsory auditions). Not bad for a start cos according to Samantha and Nat, Band also has around the same number signing up...

We performed "And So It Goes" as well as "Wak Wak Gung" at the foyer and even though we blasted, the background noise was overwhelming. One girl from CO was creating such a ruckus a few metres away when we were performing and she got ticked by Ms.Quek! After that, Ai Ping and I went around promoting Choir and giving impromptu performances, something which surprises myself up till today! We watched Samantha conducting the Band while doing "Hard Gay" movements!! (not Samantha doing Hard Gay..us!!) HAHAHAHA!!!


Actually, I felt rather discouraged by how people reacted when we go around encouraging them to join Choir. Maybe they think that Choir is just all about singing boring pieces all the time and that guys who join Choir are sissies. But it's more than that! Definitely! It's about enjoying the song and feeling the emotions that the composer wants us to experience when he includes a certain accent here or there or a sudden crescendo. ( A little technical here, but you get what I mean...). It's also about feeling the adrenaline rush when you hear the blending of multiple chords when the various sections combine to harmonise together. Not only that, it's about the strong bonds forged when we practise together,compete together, suffer together and when we spend loads of time together.


Nevertheless, we managed to pull it off quite well, according to Mr.Tan so, all's well...hmm,Choir auditions tomorrow. Can't wait to see the second-round of auditions though. Nelson would be doing the auditions this time so the filtering would be even more precise.


Geography test tomorrow....I hope I'll be able to do better than just a Pass...



Why is it that JC Life is becoming the state it is now? I don't want it to be restricted to just looking forward to everything Choir-related and if things were different, it would have been a different story. Sadly, it isn't and will never be. God, you really have to guide me through these 10 months. Even if things can't change for the better, just help me know when to stay true to your ways...

Surprise! Monday Blues....and a surprise guest in TPJC

Sunday was a memorable day for Mum. Actually I was planning to surprise Mum on the day where we had steamboat but as we were too loaded with seafood in our stomachs, I decided that showtime will begin the following day instead.

After Church, I met Sze Yee to study at the airport but I don't know why: I couldn't get into the study mood that day...However, Sze Yee was busy scribbling furiously on her worksheets! Surprising eh?

After that, we went on a cake-hunting spree at Tampines Central. Sze Yee graciously volunteered to help plan the surprise and in the end, she was part of the surprise cos she went with me to Ground Zero: my grandparents' place and hid in my Aunt's room until Mum came over. Unfortunately, of all days, Mum took a super long time to arrive so we had to wait for a long time until we couldn't take it and went ahead to have dinner first. When she finally arrived, halfway during our dinner, Sze Yee and I rushed into San Yi's room to light the candles and prepare the cake. San Yi, who was our "accomplice",kept rushing us and making us panic for no reason but anyways, when we were finally done, I called Mum into the room while Sze Yee held the cake and waited. Overall, Mum was relatively calm, not that surprised cos she claims that she is too old for surprises...hai~

Anyways, credit still goes to Sze Yee for helping out la~heh heh...


Today, hmm...Econs test was reasonable...lessons haven't started proper yet so, we could still enjoy our last bits of freedom until Wednesday...so far, the timetable's quite good, teachers seem promising except the fact that I can't get over the news that Ms Ng is our form teacher, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Now that she has the power to control us in anyway she can, she makes us do stretching exercises every morning before school starts!!

Besides her, Lorraine Lee's replacing Kenneth Lee as our Lit teacher (I can hear the resounding cheers already!) and we have our new Maths teacher of which I have forgotten the name already...Geography-wise, our teachers are good too with Mr Sahlan teaching Human Geog and Ms Lee as Physical Geog teacher. Also, I'm so glad that Ms Kon decided to stay for one more year before she leaves! I don't know what TPJC will do without her!!

Lunch at Pizza Hut with Rhyss, Samantha, Charlene, Favian, Junwei and Lizard today after which Sze Yee popped by TPJC to collect the NBL Tickets for this Wednesday's match between the Sydney Kings and the Singapore Slingers at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. (They're only selling for 2 bucks each Ok!!!) Went to Ai Ping's house to slack after that and watch some WOOOO~!!!!! SAY! SAY! SAY! SAY!(inside joke!) :P

Chingay and Mum's birthday...

Last Saturday was the first day of the assembling of the "Dream Team", or what they call it, for the Chingay Parade of Dreams this year. I was quite surprised that I actually volunteered for it as I'm not known to be so enthusiastic over such events, but upon knowing that one could gain over 70 hours of CIP from it and also because,it'll look nice on our Graduation testimonial, I decided to try it out.

Rhyss, Charlene,Samantha, Evatte, Favian,Kok Kok and I went to SRJC together for the event. We saw Louis there and he told me that some of us would be in the same sector but actually we were all separated! (!!!) Anyways, I was put into Sector 4, Group 1 where I met quite a few nice people. After some Ice-breaking games, everything was quite Ok.

All of us headed to Heartland Mall's Yoshinoya to have lunch and then after bubble tea we head back home. Well, I just hope I can tahan this training for two months!


Later, we celebrated Mum's birthday in the evening at our favourite all-time hangout, Golden Mile Steamboat Restaurant!!! Hmm, maybe some pictures will convince you how nice the food is. We ordered up to $74 worth of seafood and beef plus Chicken Rice!

Post-audition blues

After all the excitement of the first 2 days of school, doing auditions and stuff, now it's back to reality. Well, as Ai Ping and I were discussing, auditions were tiring but rewarding cos we got to spend more time with people from Choir (the Comm,Olivia as well as Cheryl) and we cleared many misconceptions about certain people such as Terry. Who knew that he could be so funny? hahahaha...and the comment that CHARLIE'S eyes were so LOVELY...priceless...

The second day of auditions was much more coordinated compared to the first day cos partly Olivia came to help in crowd control and she got to mingle and talk to the J1s, trying to promote Choir. She should really go into Business man!!

I really feel quite bad for not controlling myself during the auditions. Why can't I be like Charlie Brown, being so professional even though he's really laughing inside?
What happened was there was this J1 guy who came to our station for the audition.Before Charlie Brown proceeded with playing scales, he requested that Charlie Brown count "1,2,3" before he sang and so he did. I was controlling very badly. Maybe you don't understand why I'm so tickled but if you were there, you would understand my predicament. Anyways, after the first try, he counted BY HIMSELF on the subsequent tries. By then, I couldn't suppress it any longer so I pretended to be tired and rested my head on the table. Everything would have been fine if not for my prominent red forehead, which the poor guy happened to notice (according to Charlie Brown), which was an obvious evidence of my silent laughter. Charlie Brown remained professional and he quickly dismissed the guy. After that he was like "Bitch! Do you know I was trying so hard not to laugh and there you were, unable to control yourself while I'm suffering!" HAHAHAHAHA!

I thought that I would be able to control better after this unfortunate incident but the next one was worse. Due to the aftermath of the "1,2,3" guy, my mean, inner self was already at its weakest point.Any of such similar incidents would be met with the 'tinkling' sounds of my laughter again...and it really happened..sigh...

What happened was the next guy who came in was all ready for the audition. When he started to sing the next note, I burst in fits of laughter and I was SO embarrassed (but I think he felt worse!) and I immediately said: "the guy standing at the door very funny ah!" or something like that so that the poor auditionee can take comfort in knowing that I wasn't laughing at him. Charlie Brown was stunned. He was trying to pick up the pieces. Imagine him saying in his slow and gentle voice:

"Erm, don't care about her. She's gone mad. Let's just continue."


I still couldn't stop laughing. So, I ran to Ai Ping and continued my poor joke about the guy at the door. (To understand why it was such a poor,made-up joke, you have to know that there was no guy at the door!)


But besides these 2 incidents, all went well. We got to see Kim Wakerman in action at the audition on the first day. She was in Siti's OG and in her clique too. Ai Ping auditioned her (everything was planned just for Kim Wakerman: the position where she had to stand so that all of us could see her,especially Terry, the order in which the OGs were to come so that we wouldn't miss her,etc...) Also, I saw Fitari, my primary school classmate! It was such a pleasant surprise and I was quite shocked that he could remember me too =)

Anyways, these 2 days have been awesome. The feeling of everyone just bonding, going out for lunch together,making fun here and there, spending a long time at the exercise area doing balancing acts near Tampines Mart after lunch , playing ball in the Choir Room (Ssh!!) and those stupid Maggi Mee and Rugrats piano duets with multiple-accompaniment, I enjoyed myself tremendously!!!

That was why when we were told that there was no need for auditions for the Hook family of OGs, we were super disappointed....cos we spent the whole day in school going for lessons and taking tests,looking forward to it..hai~


Anyway, time to start studying...this year ain't gonna be a bed of roses...
